The next adventure…

“Where to next?”

Inevitably, when we run into family or friends we haven’t seen in a while, that’s the first (or one of the first) things they ask.

“Where’s the next trip?”

We don’t mind, because we really are always planning the next trip, and usually the one after that. Sometimes even the one after that…

Even when it’s months or years away, we love talking about travel. It’s a game we never tire of. OK, so we’ll fly into there, and then catch a train to there…OH! and we have to stop to see….and eat at…

And on it goes. Whole evenings are spent planning future getaways. It seems we are starting earlier and earlier these days, planning for the next one.

And so, without further ado, I’ll fill you in on where our next adventure takes us. It’s been in the planning since about February:

There are many ways to get to Machu Picchu. The simplest is to fly into Cusco, take a train to Aguas Calientes (the little town at the base of Machu Picchu), and then get a shuttle bus up to the Sanctuary (what Peruvians call MP).

We are not taking the simple route.

Seven days, 37 miles, 15 microclimates and a peak elevation of 15,000 feet.

We are hiking the Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu. And hopefully we’ll have our own gorgeous photo like the one above. Wish us luck!
